Jui's Swiss Trips |
Jungfraujoch Trip (webcam / weather forecast) This trip takes you up to the worldwide wellknown Jungraujoch. It is one of Switzerland's finest excursions in the Alps, as Gornergrat and Klein Matterhorn in Zermatt. Since 1912 the Jungfrau Railway leads up there from Kleine Scheidegg. Through a tunnel of 7.32 km length, and a total travelling distance of 9.30 km, Europe's highest train station is reached in about 50 minutes. In the interior of the summit, a lift takes visitors to the observation platform at the Sphynx Obser-vatory, from which one has a magnificent view of the Aletsch Glacier, which is the largest glacier in the Alps, and the mountains beyond. The Jungfrau-Aletsch region with its unique plant and animal world is the first Unesco World Natural Heritage Site in the entire Alpine region. Further sights include the Ice Palace, the Snow Fun Park, the Alpine Sensation and the Cristal Restaurant - Top of Europe.
Further Activities: Depending on time and your interests there are the possibilities of a stroll through the villages
of Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald. Even a short and easy downhill walk from Kleine Scheidegg to
Wengernalp is possible (about 2 km). The more sporty amongst you may continue to Wengen (about 5
km more).
